Faizal Hasham
Faizal Hasham (EMBA) and his wife Safeena have moved back to Ottawa after a year in Philadelphia, PA, and now have two sons: Khaleem, 3, and Zahaan, 1. Safeena has an ENT surgical practice, and Faizal is Executive Director, Business Development, at Rolta Canada Ltd. “I’m amazed that next year is the 10-year mark post MBA,” he says. “Life is good!”

Faizal Hasham (EMBA) moved back to Ottawa after a year in Philadelphia, where his wife Safeena completed a fellowship in pediatric ENT surgery. He continues to work for Rolta Canada Ltd. as a Director on its business development team. On Dec. 9, 2009, the couple welcomed their second baby boy, Zahaan, who weighed in at 7 lb., 9 oz.; his big brother Khaleem celebrated his second birthday on Feb. 11.

Sean Friday (EMBA) is now Commander of 8 Wing, CFB Trenton. A Colonel in the Royal Canadian Air Force, his previous appointment was Deputy Chief of Staff—Plans, at Canada Command Headquarters. He has flown operational missions around the world, including deployments during the Gulf War, Operation Airbridge (Bosnia-Herzegovina), and Operation Determination (Kuwait). In 2008, he was deployed to Joint Task Force Afghanistan as Commanding Officer of the Theatre Support Element at Camp Mirage in the United Arab Emirates. He has also carried out several humanitarian airlift operations, including deployments to Djibouti/Ethiopia, Kenya/Somalia and Uganda.

A.J. Keilty (BCom) married Alexandra Wilson on May 10 at the Gananoque Inn and Spa. “Family and friends enjoyed two beautiful days of golf and boating in the Thousand Islands, followed by fabulous food, wine and dancing on the shores of the St Lawrence River,” A.J. reports. He is President of The Varsity Property Group, a real estate development firm based in Kingston, and Alexandra teaches with the Limestone District School Board.

John Alexander Keilty
A.J. Keilty (BCom) and Alexandra welcomed John Alexander Keilty on Feb. 21, the first grandchild of Noni and John Keilty and Elizabeth and John Alexander Wilson. Baby “Jack” – at 8 lbs 4 oz and measuring in the 95th height percentile – was born on ‘Hockey Day in Canada’ at Kingston General Hospital. AJ notes that Jack was born in the same building where a previous John Alexander presided over Canada’s first parliament as Prime Minster. “Good omens of things to come.”

Marilyn McNeil-Morin (EMBA) is now Chair, Fashion Studies and Performing Arts, at George Brown College in Toronto. In this capacity she manages academic programming and faculty for Fashion, Jewellery, Theatre and Dance, which attract approximately 2,000 students in 13 separate programs. The college, situated in the heart of the creative community in Toronto, attracts faculty with extensive ties to industry, and outstanding students who have succeeded in major industry competitions such as the Creative Catwalk and the Triumph Inspiration Awards. Marilyn reports she finds her new role challenging but gratifying as she helps prepare the next generation of fashion and jewellery designers and theatre and dance performers to excel.

Marc Melnic (EMBA) is now President and CEO of New Sage Energy Corp., a Calgary company. Marc is a professional engineer with more than 16 years of industry experience in senior management roles with several companies.

George Paraskevakos (EMBA) is now the Executive Director of IPA (International Probiotics Association). IPA is an international non-profit association overseeing regulatory matters as well as scientific standards for the global probiotic market. Having worked in the industry as a stakeholder for the last seven years, George decided to make the jump and take on this new role as industry ombudsman.

Carolyn Rogers, EMBA, has been appointed senior deputy governor of the Bank of Canada, where she will oversee the bank’s strategic planning and operations. She’ll also be a member of the bank’s governing council and board of directors. Her seven-year term begins Dec. 15.

Carolyn Rogers (EMBA) is now CEO of the Financial Institutions Commission in BC. She has also been appointed the province’s Superintendent of Financial Institutions, Superintendent of Pensions, Superintendent of Real Estate, Registrar of Mortgage Brokers and CEO of the BC Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corp. Most recently, Carolyn served as Assistant Deputy Minister at the BC Public Service Agency, Client Services.
