Matt McEachran (EMBA) continued a series of adventures with his best friend Carrie Skinn when they were joined in marriage on Oct. 30, 2009. The wedding took place on the covered porch of their cottage overlooking Fawn Lake in Bracebridge, ON. Together they have “five crazy kids and two dogs,” Matt reports, and live in Mooretown, ON.

Court Carruthers (EMBA), Toronto, won his place among Caldwell Partners’ annual cross-Canada selection of “Top 40 Under 40” business leaders as President of Acklands-Grainger Inc. (AGI) and senior VP of W.W. Grainger Inc. They had long histories, Acklands having been founded in Winnipeg in 1889 and Grainger in 1927. Court combined their production of electric motors, wooden farm equipment and vehicles to make the conjoined companies Canada’s largest distributor of industrial, safety and fastener products: 60,000 products, 155 outlets and $700 million in annual sales. Juggy Sihota (EMBA) recently received two prestigious Canadian awards. At a January reception she was named to Business in Vancouver magazine’s Top Forty Under 40. This recognition acknowledges business leaders in British Columbia under the age of 40 for their business achievements, inspirational leadership, and community contribution. In February, she was awarded the Leadership Excellence Award in the Trailblazer category from Canadian Women in Communications. This organization honours seven leaders from across Canada who have demonstrated outstanding achievements, leadership, and support in the communications and technology sectors. Juggy is currently the TELUS Vice President of Client Experience Strategy and Development in Vancouver.

Sharon Bain, EMBA’05, is living in Winnipeg and tells us that in retirement she created the Better Financial Future Investment Club (BFFIC) and is using her finance and accounting skills to teach women about investing. The club recently celebrated its seventh year of operations.

Sharon Bain (EMBA) has recently retired and reports that she couldn’t be happier. Her Team Winnipeg EMBA classmates helped her plan her early retirement, thanks to a financial plan they developed as one of their group assignments. She now has time to spend with her family and is also actively involved in promoting financial literacy through the CPA Canada Financial Decisions Matter Program, targeted at middle income Canadians.
