Peter Carter (EMBA) was promoted from Vice President, Engineering, to Chief Operating Officer at Riverstone Resources in Vancouver, BC.

Mohamed Amin Jagani (EMBA), after winning the QSB New Venture Prize for 2005, launched Clinetica, Inc. and has grown it to such a successful pharmaceutical and healthcare consulting firm that he and his partners will soon be launching another new venture, Hayyan Healthcare, Canada’s first clinical trial pharmacy. Hayyan Healthcare will include a compounding pharmacy, a medical and wellness clinic and an on-site infusion centre.

Dorothy Mays (EMBA) was recently elected by the Governance Committee to the Board of Directors for the Brant Community Healthcare System in southern Ontario. She will continue her work as a Capital Project Manager for Hamilton Health Sciences, developing new research facilities for hospital sites throughout the city.

Marcus Daniels (AMBA) became the Managing Director of Extreme Startups, where he hunts for ‘rockstar’ founders and funds digital startups. Active founding investors include Extreme Venture Partners, Business Development Bank of Canada, Relay Ventures and Rho Canada Ventures. Marcus reports that he’s looking forward to seeing more Queen’s grads apply (at www.ExtremeStartups.com) and take the entrepreneurial plunge to try to build Canada’s next billion-dollar business.

Arjun J. Davda (AMBA) and his wife Maya welcomed a new arrival to their family on July 16, 2009. Deven provides an immense amount of joy for his parents and extended family. Arjun just purchased his son’s first hockey set, with “visions of a natural hockey ability starting to take form” even in Deven’s early days.

Joanna Griffiths (BCom) is the founder and CEO of Knix Wear, a high-tech women’s underwear brand. Knix Wear, recently launched via a crowdsourcing campaign on Indiegogo, secured a large pre-order from Hudson’s Bay Company in the process. This marks the first time a major retailer has purchased a brand as a result of crowdfunding.

Jason Rioux (BCom), after a 12-year run with Ontario Power Generation as Director of Business Development, has left to pursue an exciting entrepreneurial venture. He founded Workbench Corp. to deliver high-performing energy projects for clients, using his “rubber-hits-the-road” gas and power expertise. He’s also carving a path in developing residential structures using recycled steel shipping containers, and has a project under way for an off-grid cabin near Bobcaygeon, Ont. Chris MacFarlane (EMBA) is now Vice-President, Corporate Engineering, of Cogeco Cable Inc., overseeing the company’s engineering across Canada. Chris has accumulated more than 20 years of experience in telecommunications and technology companies, having been with NCR, AT&T Canada, and his own successful business telephone company before being recruited by Cogeco in 1999 as Director of IP Operations for Ontario.
