Olga Mirzoeva, BCom, has wrapped up three years as a Trade Commissioner with Global Affairs Canada as the lead on Canadian bilateral trade and investment relationships with Tanzania, Comoros and Seychelles. She has fond memories of performing in a contemporary dance production in Nairobi, watching turtles lay eggs on the beach in Comoros and riding an ostrich. Her next adventure is an MA in International Law at University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.

Olivia Crossman, BCom, JD’15, has joined Emond Harnden LLP in Ottawa as an Associate. Olivia puts her Commerce degree to good use in practising management-side labour and employment law in both French and English.

Muneet Bhatia
Muneet Bhatia (MBA) recently joined URS Flint in Calgary as Assistant Business Manager in the Production Services division. In 2012, URS—a large U.S.-based global engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) organization—acquired Flint Energy as its construction arm to establish its presence in the Alberta oil sands. Muneet is excited to be a part of the firm’s transition from being a Canadian construction company to a full-service EPC organization.

Varun Bindal

Varun Bindal, MBA, says he was recently promoted to the role of managing director (partner) with Accenture Strategy. Varun leads the company’s business-strategy operations with resources clients in Western Canada.
He lives in Calgary with his wife and 3-year-old son.

Varun Bindal, MBA, and his wife, Yukti, welcomed the arrival of their son, Advik, on Sept. 24, 2017. Varun reports that Advik (whose name means “one-of-a-kind” or “unique” in Sanskrit) “decided to crash his mommy’s baby shower, putting her in labour a couple of weeks earlier than expected.” Varun also let us know that he was promoted to senior manager for Accenture Strategy in November 2017.

Job (Joe) Cherian, MBA’12, died on May 14 after a three-year battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He was 40. Joe spent his career in project management in industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas and transportation. Most recently, he was in program planning and operations with aerospace company Blue Origin. Throughout his life, Joe travelled extensively. Joe is survived by his wife, Greena George, and their daughter.

Kenneth Chow, MBA, is the Commercial Director for Southeast Asia at Adobe Advertising Cloud. He manages the growth and strategy for Adobe’s DSP business, formerly known as TubeMogul, a technology platform focused on crosschannel programmatic buying.

Drew Cormier, MBA, Sc’11, is the senior strategist and global lead for image search within Google's trust and safety division. He works with analysts, engineers and product policy teams to protect users and improve user experience. Drew notes that he also just celebrated his six-year “Google-versary”.
