Ian W. Hendry (BCom) has moved his office to a new location in Ottawa to accommodate his growing business. Hendry Warren LLP has grown to 35 professionals and administrative support members. Ginnie Welsman (MBA) sent along this photo after attending MBA’77’s class reunion in September 2011 at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends (pictured), some of whom came from as far away as Calgary and Montana. Robert Buller (MBA, Arts’71) has been appointed Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Business at Douglas College of New Westminster and Coquitlam, BC (suburbs of Vancouver). He formerly headed the Marketing Department at the neighboring Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Douglas, a Baccalaureate College, offers BBA degrees and numerous other undergraduate degrees and diplomas. Douglas also has two university partners in China – Shanghai and Harbin – where they offer BBA degrees in finance to Chinese students, following the Douglas curriculum and taught in English by a combination of Douglas and local professors. Robert, a former Director of Alumni Affairs at Queen’s and an adjunct professor of business in the early 1990s, has continued to serve as an advisor to project courses in Queen’s and Cornell-Queen’s Executive MBA programs.

Marian (Higginson) Holley, BCom, crossed the finish line in November, receiving her Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, an online degree from Trinity Western University. Cheering her on as she completed her three-year marathon were her 'beloved six-pack' (her six children), as well as her mother, 87 years young (who was her first home-educator), siblings, dear friends, and professors.

Bob Butterill, BCom, was elected to the board of directors and to the position of Treasurer of the Canadian Landmine Foundation (CLMF) in June 2017. Bob represents Rotary International on the board. Rotary is a founding sponsor  of CLMF.

James “Jim” Buttrey (BCom) died suddenly at his home on Howe Island, near Kingston, Ont., on Sept. 12, 2013, aged 60. He is survived by his wife Maria (Ethier), daughters Lil, Gracie and Johnna, and members of his extended family.

Terry Collins, BCom’77, was awarded the Fleming Medal for Excellence in Science Communication from the Royal Canadian Institute for Science. Terry says that receiving the Fleming Medal is the honour of a lifetime and humbling, given the list of past recipients and because of the award’s famous namesake. Sir Sandford Fleming, the institute’s founder, was a renowned inventor and engineer and the father of worldwide standard time. He also served as the second chancellor of Queen’s, from 1880 to 1915.
