Gordon (Gord) Hayhurst (BCom) died Nov. 12, 2012 after a brief period of failing health. He is survived by his spouse Jacqueline (Jackie) Hushion, mother Shirley Alice Hayhurst and siblings Alice (BCom’82), Daniel (BCom’89) and Laurie Cruess (BSc’75), as well as several nieces and nephews. Following his Queen’s graduation, Gordon worked at Ridout & Maybee LLP in his native Toronto before earning his law degree from the University of Warwick in the UK. After his return to Canada, he joined Lang Michener. At the time of his death he was a Legal Advisor with the federal Immigration and Refugee Board, where he dedicated more than twenty rewarding years to public service.

Gordon “Gord” Hines (BCom) passed away Nov. 7, 2013, in his 59th year, at his Toronto home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by Jennifer (de la Bastide) BCom’77, his wife of 32 years, daughters Christine and Meghan, and his extended family. He joined PriceWaterhouse in 1977, became a Chartered Accountant and enjoyed a successful multi-phased career in public accounting, banking, consulting and, finally, wealth management at Scotia- McLeod. Gord was devoted to his family, an avid home-improvement expert and a passionate sailor. As a 30-year member of the Etobicoke Yacht Club, including a stint as its Commodore, Gord drove many initia- tives, including the Access BOOM sailing program for children with disabilities.

Judith A. Hunter, BCom, retired from Sheridan College after 28 years as an HR Professor with a specialization in occupational health and safety. For 17 of those years, Judith was also a program coordinator. It has been a busy year, with Judith selling her Oakville home, rebuilding her cottage, taking a fall Mediterranean cruise and then heading to her Florida home to enjoy the snowbird life with her Boston Terrier, Winston. Judith hopes to shorten her bucket list with travel and to spend quality time with her daughters, Christine and Stephanie (Matt Taylor), NSc’05, and twin grandchildren, Hunter and Scarlett.

Ron Jamieson, MBA, BSc’72, tells us that he recently completed an assignment in the Philippines, where he worked with a group of cacao farmers in Cagayan Province, teaching them how to make chocolate and working to establish a co-op to build a chocolate-making plant.

Neil Longhurst, MBA, Artsci’70, and Ginnie Welsman, MBA’77, married on Nov. 8, 2018 in Carlsbad, Calif., where they will live year-round. Neil says he spent the last five years splitting his time between Toronto and California.

Glenn MacSweyn, MBA, Artsci’71 and ’72, died on Jan. 14 in Ottawa. He was 70. Glenn lived in Calgary for most of his adult life. A partnership in the Concreate Company became his chosen career, and over the years it took him to various locations across Canada in a supervisory role, constructing water towers and bridges. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: Joan, Kent, Judy, Karen, Barry and Wendy.
