Rob Hamilton (MBA) recently completed the Corporate Directors Educational Program at U of T’s Rotman School of Business, and has qualified for the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. After stints as General Manager and CEO at two start-up biotech companies, he now heads his own strategic consulting practice and is actively searching out independent corporate director roles.

Alvin M.T.K. Hew, BCom, became the group managing director of Southgate Ventures in January. Headquartered in Singapore, Southgate is an education platform with eight schools in Indonesia. It will soon expand to Thailand, India, China, South Korea and other countries in Asia. Alvin currently sits on the board of two publicly listed companies in Malaysia: Maxis and Petronas Trading. His son, Inaki, is a first-year Queen's Commerce student who plays varsity soccer for the Queen’s Gaels.

Alvin M.T.K. Hew, BCom, has called Singapore home since 2013. There, Alvin covers the Asia region for The Abraaj Group, a Dubai-based private-equity firm, as Managing Director and Head of APAG Asia. He is looking forward to connecting with classmates at his 30th-anniversary reunion at this year's Homecoming in October and invites friends to visit him in Singapore.

This financial advisory firm in Taipei recently established its first private equity fund focused on the beauty and fast-moving consumer goods sector. Lawrence (BCom) moved to Lake Country in the BC interior six years ago and is “loving it.” He has started up two non-profits— www.lcopenair.com and www.orcap.org —and consults on the side in the hi-tech software field. Brian Lenahan, BCom’86, lives in Mississauga, Ont., and is chair of the Quantum Strategy Institute, a global organization of quantum technology experts dedicated to the acceleration of the adoption of quantum computing, sensing and communication. He says his latest book, Quantum Boost, is on the Amazon bestseller list in its category.

In writing the book, Brian leveraged his MIT artificial-intelligence training and years of research and IT project experience to guide leaders through the complex world of AI.

Brian Lenahan, BCom, has kept busy since retiring from TD Bank in March 2017. He completed a program at MIT in artificial intelligence and launched a startup, Aquitaine Innovation Advisors, which develops AI tools for business consultants and coaches.
