Sandra ("Loek") Linsdell, BCom, is happy to inform her classmates that the inaugural Commerce 1989 Award has been presented. The two amazing recipients entered the Commerce program this year. Watch for more details in an upcoming edition of Smith Magazine.

Bo Meissner, MBA, became chief financial officer of Vital Farms in December 2020, after joining the company in July as executive VP of finance. Bo has more than 30 years of experience in consumer packaged goods and is charged with leading the finance organization of the pasture-raised food brand.

Anitha (Roa) Robinson
Anitha (Roa) Robinson (BCom) literally turned a nightmare into a dream with the publication of her debut young-adult novel, Broken Worlds, due out in June. About five years ago, she had a nightmare of being chased down a dark alley by two men. This nightmare became the initial seed for the plot of her science-fiction novel. She submitted the manuscript to various publishers before being accepted by CBAY Books.

Francesca Santoro and Alessandro Michael Aron Santoro
Sharon Onishenko-Santoro (MBA) and her husband are thrilled to announce the birth of their son Alessandro Michael Aron Santoro, born Nov. 3, 2011, a brother for four-year-old Francesca. Sharon reports that Francesca loves being a big sister and the family feels very blessed.

Sharon Onishenko (MBA) and Frank Santoro welcomed Francesca Anna-Maria Santoro on Dec. 24 in Calgary. Francesca weighed in at 6 lbs. 10 ozs. and is in excellent health. "We are elated and feeling truly blessed. Here’s Francesca at 3 weeks.”

Brenda Trenowden, BCom, received her medal as Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire from Prince William at Buckingham Palace in January. It was announced last June as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours that Brenda was to receive the CBE, one of the highest honours in the British Empire, for her work in finance and gender diversity. Brenda recently made a career change from banking to join PwC as a partner in the People and Organization consulting business. She is also the global chair of the 30% Club, which campaigns to have women make up at least 30 per cent of boards and of executive management teams.

Brenda Trenowden, BCom, in September 2018 was ranked No. 1 on the list of Top 100 Female Champions in Business, which is compiled annually by the Financial Times and HERoes.
