Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday Giving Tuesday Giving Tuesday

For the past three years, the first Tuesday in December has been marked as the official beginning to the giving season.  Such a fitting antidote to follow both Black Friday and Cyber Monday and it is without a doubt that the global movement known as “Giving Tuesday” is having a growing impact!

Here at Queen’s School of Business, students, staff and faculty were given the opportunity to learn more about this movement and were provided the opportunity to give but most importantly to provide gratitude.

Throughout the majority of the day, the Centre for Social Impact’s team were stationed in the atrium of Goodes Hall, home of Queen’s School of Business with a table loaded with goodies, some coloured paper and a polaroid camera!

Notes of gratitude were thoughtfully documented, ranging from thanking close friends, housemates, QSB staff and most importantly Mom and Dad!  Very quickly our wall of gratitude grew.  Bowls of snacks and drinks were offered with the stipulation that everyone take two!  One treat for themselves, and the second treat was to be given to a deserving recipient.

The wall of gratitude is a constant reminder of the appreciation which our peers and colleagues share for each other and for our families.  Not surprisingly, the greatest impact is made from acts of a genuine heart.
