Maia Ingram, MBA, and her husband, Daniel, welcomed their daughter, Charlotte Sidney Ingram, on Dec. 23, 2020. The family lives in Port Elgin, Ont., and Maia tells us that she enjoys spending time with Charlotte and working at Bruce Power on projects related to medical isotopes.
As AI works into every nook and cranny of our lives, one question emerges: Will the AI future be ethical? Sam Kirshner, PhD’15, MSc’09, BSc(Eng)’08, helps tackle it in Checkmate Humanity: The How and Why of Responsible AI. Sam, an associate professor of business analytics at the University of New South Wales in Australia, and his co-authors offer practical solutions for leaders about responsible AI. We want the robots to do their thing, yes, but it has to be the right thing too. This book offers a path.
Amy Kraemer, BCom’15, married Connor Scullion, BSc(Eng)’14, in June 2021 on top of Crowsnest Mountain in Alberta, the peak where they got engaged. “Though we overlapped at Queen’s for three years and were on the same ski trip to Stowe, Vermont, we didn’t meet until after graduation,” Amy writes. “We met while volunteering with the Canadian Ski Patrol at Lake Louise. Since meeting, we’ve always shared a love of the mountains and adventure.” While not the large wedding they had originally planned, Amy says they could not have asked for a better day. The couple live with their dog, Oliver, in Alberta, where Connor is a facilities manager with Canadian Natural Resources Limited, and Amy is a relationship manager at Alberta IoT.
Connie Lo, BCom, tells us her all-natural skin-care company, Three Ships, which was started in her apartment kitchen, can now be found in over 500 Target stores across the U.S. and on Target.com. “This is a launch we’ve been working on since 2019, and it’s incredible to see all our hard work come to life,” she writes.
