Robert (Bob) Montgomery (BCom, BA'50) died April 2, aged 86. Husband of Margaret (Macleod), father of Fraser, Heather and Scott (Sheila), and grandfather of seven, his career in law took him to Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto and Calgary, concluding with his role as a Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta. Bob served his church, his community, his country and his profession in many different capacities, and, through his love for the Navy (he attended the Royal Canadian Navy College at Royal Roads), he was fondly known to many as the “Commander”.

Donald Souch (BCom) passed away peacefully on March 24, 2014 at Golden Plough Lodge in Cobourg, Ont., in his 86th year, with family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan (Shepherd), his children Rick, Jeff (Val) and Paul (Linda), and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alfred L.J. Favretto, BCom, died on March 12 in Sudbury, aged 88. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Schitka); his four children, Catherine (John), Mary Ann (Harry), Sandra (Jean-Marc); six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. After graduating from Queenâs, Alfred received his Chartered Accountant designation and in Sudbury established his own public-accounting firm, Favretto, Sinclair, Sostarich & Ross, from which he retired in 1974. The following four years he worked at Midland Doherty as a stock broker and subsequently was President and General Manager of the Northbury (now Lexington) Hotel from 1978 to 1988.

Ronald Kemp, BCom, died on July 13, 2019 at 93. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Hamilton, Ron was president of Kemp Construction, a business his father started and which Ron and his brothers later expanded. Ron was a gifted athlete in hockey, lacrosse, football, curling and golf. A longtime friend described him as “one of the best all-around athletes to come out of Hamilton.” In 1947, Ron played centre on the provincial-championship Grimsby Peach Kings hockey team.

Donald Middleton (BCom, BA'49) died on Feb. 15, in Montreal. Husband of the late Doris (Hastings), father of Kristin (George Stedman), and grandfather of Matthew and Diana, he was raised in Moose Jaw, Sask. and was an accomplished pianist, a proud veteran of WWII and a longtime employee of Alcan.

Patrick E. Murphy (BCom) passed away surrounded by family on Dec. 15, 2011. Patrick had been a Manager at DuPont Canada and an active member of First Baptist Church in Kingston. He is survived by Ruth, his wife of 65 years, children Peter (Pamela Love), Janice Sacks (David), Kathleen Llewellyn-Thomas (Martin Kenneally), Sharon Murphy (Richard Cumyn), seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Carman Newcombe, BCom, died in August 2016, in his 96th year, in Kingston. A retired professor at the Royal Military College, he is survived by Audrey, his wife of 68 years, and children Deborah Valliant (Lew); Rodney Newcombe (Janice); Elsbeth Newcombe; and Mark Newcombe (Carolyn); as well as five grandchildren.

Stephen Prosenyak, BCom, died Sept. 29, 2016, aged 90, in Oakville, Ont. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor (Cyr); daughters Brenda (George); Stephanie (Michael); and Elaine (David); seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John Walcot, BCom, died on July 22, just 10 days after his 94th birthday. He played varsity sports while earning his Commerce degree, but the proudest moment of his sporting life was when he scored the winning touchdown for his North Toronto Collegiate football team in front of more than 20,000 fans in the city championships at Varsity Stadium. After Queen’s, John spent 40 years with New Holland Farm Equipment and enjoyed supporting his kids and grandchildren at thousands of games, recitals and events. He is survived by his wife of more than 69 years, Nancy; children Ann, Peter, Robert and Bradley; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
