Brian Kyle, EMBA, has joined the intelligent-automation solutions provider WorkFusion as CFO. Brian was previously CFO of the Stars Group, a Canadian online gaming company.

David Caldana
David Caldana (BCom) and his best friend and business partner, fellow-Canadian Justin Kowbel, launched their second Borough Kitchen cook shop in the U.K. in May. Located in North London’s Hampstead neighbourhood, the new outpost joins the existing store at Borough Market. Their online store (www.boroughkitchen.com) is set to re-launch in August. The shops sell the best tools the U.K. at-home chef needs for the kitchen and table, with a focus on quality, functionality and durability. Later in the year, David and Justin hope to explore other opportunities for growth in the U.K.

Andrew Calder, BCom, died on July 23, 2019 after battling cancer for just under two years. Andrew is survived by his wife, Susan; three young children, Campbell, Quinn and Fiona; his parents, Ken and Marg; and his brother, Graeme. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted dad, amazing brother, wonderful son and great friend.

David Lahey, EMBA, tells us that while hunkered down during the pandemic he wrote his fourth book, From Hire to Inspire: How to Become the Best Boss, which is now available in stores. “Glad to see some light at the end of this COVID battle with the new vaccines,” he writes.

Jacques Cantin, EMBA, and Alain Villeneuve started Caninno Inc. last summer to address a complex problem in the wind power industry. The technology development company is currently involved in the design, innovation and commercialization of solutions for the de-icing of wind turbine blades. The company's patent-pending fibre-laser-based technology is suitable for the detection, location and ablation of ice and other surface deposits on composite blades. Caninno Inc. is currently seeking pre-start-up funding.

Glenn Dourado, MBA, has been appointed Vice President, Business Development at Poseida Therapeutics, Inc., a San Diego-based company that translates best-in-class gene-editing technologies into lifesaving therapeutics. Glenn joined the company from Ligand Pharmaceuticals, after having worked at Sanford Burnham Medical Research Institute, The Dow Chemical Company, and Johnson & Johnson, among others.Â

In this role, Pierre leads DRA's global origination team in identifying and accessing new business channels, seeking opportunities for growth and developing ways to enhance DRA's service offering to clients. DRA is a multidisciplinary global engineering group that originated in South Africa and delivers mining, mineral-processing, energy, water treatment and infrastructure services.
