EDII Fund

Smith School of Business is committed to cultivating a vibrant and diverse academic and work environment rooted in a culture of mutual respect so that all members of our community feel safe, possess a strong sense of belonging, and are empowered to thrive. We recognize that access, equity, and inclusion are vital to our school's future and to developing global citizens with the broad knowledge, skills, and perspectives needed to contribute meaningfully to society as well as advancements in business.

To aid in achieving our EDII goals, we have expanded our efforts to accelerate the implementation of meaningful EDII-related changes and established an Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenization (EDII) Fund, to provide our community with an opportunity to support initiatives leading to impactful and meaningful change within our school.

With your support, our EDII Fund will help advance initiatives such as:

  • The Commerce Student Experience Fund to help undergraduate students fully participate in their student program experience, regardless of their socio-economic status. This includes support for business attire, conference and case competition fees, and technology.
  • Black Scholarships and Indigenous Scholarships for Graduate MBA/Masters-level Programs, and MSc and PhD Scholarships for equity-deserving students to attend Smith and focus our efforts on recruiting and retaining the Indigenous and Black student population at Smith.
  • The Creation of Welcoming and Inclusive Learning Environments at Goodes Hall and SmithToronto to update the physical characteristics to ensure a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all.

There is much work ahead; our capacity and success in effecting sustainable change are enhanced when we come together as a community and share the responsibility to make a difference. We are grateful for our Smith community and your desire to help.

“As a Métis woman in business, I appreciate how vital it is to increase Indigenous representation in business management and ownership. Scholarships like these give under-represented populations in business a much-needed seat at the table.”
