QSB students Cruze to Victory as Next Top Ad Execs

Chevrolet recently awarded Bram Warshafsky, BCom'10, (pictured) the keys to his own all-new Chevrolet Cruze for winning the title of Canada's Next Top Ad Exec (CNTAE). The vehicle was delivered at Queen's School of Business on the opening day of the 26th annual Queen's Marketing Association Conference.

Warshafsky, along with teammate and fellow Queen's School of Business alumnus Rachel Zimmer, BCom'10, were named Canada's Next Top Ad Execs on March 31, 2010, in an unprecedented double-victory shared with Mark Scattolon from McMaster. Bram and Rachel's co-winning entry marked the third time in four years that Queen's students have captured the title of Canada's Next Top Ad Exec. Chevrolet is awarding all three winners their own Chevrolet Cruze.

"Chevrolet is proud to partner with Canada's Next Top Ad Exec, an opportunity for students across Canada to gain valuable experience and contribute directly to our marketing and media strategies," said Kevin Williams, president and managing director of GM of Canada. "We highly value their fresh ideas and innovative thinking as we redefine what people have come to expect from smaller cars, like the award-winning Cruze and the all-new Sonic, launching later this year."

The 2010 competition, with 196 teams from 28 business schools across Canada, challenged students to develop an innovative social media marketing campaign for the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. Elements from the winning entry were used in the recent launch campaign for the Cruze, which was named "Best New Small Car" (over $21,000) by the Automotive Journalists' Association of Canada this past October.

"Canada's Next Top Ad Exec continues to grow, and we are very excited for the 2011 competition," said Jeff McLay, co-chair for CNTAE 2011. "By challenging students to use their unique perspective to develop innovative solutions for industry, CNTAE provides invaluable experience by bridging the gap between traditional coursework and real industry needs."
