Karen Matthey (BCom) never thought she’d still be overseas, seven years after graduation! Last February she resigned from her post in derivative sales with HSBC in London, UK, and took a three month break to travel and visit her family. She has since returned to London and joined Goldman Sachs as Executive Director in the Pensions Advisory Team – Investment Banking.

Samir Shah, MBA, co-founder and partner of the Deetken Group, has been instrumental in the launch of the Deetken Impact Fund, a fund that focuses on delivering strong financial returns while making a social and environmental impact in the communities it invests in. The fund focuses on Latin America and the Caribbean, and invests in projects such as renewable energy, affordable housing and women’s entrepreneurship. Deetken Impact received the MaRS Social Finance Impact Investor of the Year Award for 2017.

Kelly McCrimmon
Kelly McCrimmon, EMBA’03, took home the ultimate prize in June, winning the Stanley Cup with the Vegas Golden Knights. Kelly is the team’s general manager. But he’s not the only Smith connection to the NHL champs. Cyril Goddeeris, BCom’00, is a minority owner of the Golden Knights.

Martha Gibbings Merle (BCom) is the Assistant VP, Corporate Partnerships, for the Special Olympics in Southern California, where she works in development and corporate partnerships. Martha reports, “The Special Olympics is the largest sports organization in the world, so I haven’t veered too far from my sports background.”

Angela Oddo, EMBA, is now a Financial Advisor with Sun Life Financial in Saskatchewan, after spending more than 15 years with Bombardier Military Aviation Training. She reports enjoying both the new challenge and spending more time with family.

Suzanne Wendorf Rondeau
Suzanne (Wendorf) Rondeau (BCom) and husband Adam are keeping busy with three little munchkins at home. Josephine Jeanne was born on October 1, 2010 and is baby sister to Amelia (age 4) and Henry (age 2). Life is full of fun and adventure as they experience it through the eyes and minds of young children. Suzanne is currently on maternity leave from her position as HR Business Partner at Ericsson Canada in Ottawa.

Amelia Rondeau and her New Little Brother Henry James
Suzanne (Wendorf) Rondeau (BCom), husband Adam and big sister Amelia welcomed Henry James to the world on Dec. 4. Suzanne reports that life is busy, but a ton of fun!

Ahmed Shehata, BCom, general counsel and head of corporate development at MediPharm Labs, was on hand Aug. 14, 2019 at the Toronto Stock Exchange as cannabis extractor MediPharm rang the bell to open the TSX.
