Scott MacDonald with Hindu monks in Nepal

2010
Scott MacDonald, EMBA’10, enjoyed a March Break of a totally different kind. He joined 140 fellow members of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) in Kathmandu, Nepal, to attend the EO Everest Summit 13. It was organized by the local chapter of this global organization of 8,000 business owners in 40 countries. The President of Noise Solutions Inc., Scott is also President of the EO Calgary Chapter, a proponent of the benefits of lifelong learning, and a married father of four. The Everest Summit was an awe-inspiring experience, Scott reports. “Members from all corners of the world came together and exchanged ideas and experiences against the backdrop of the majestic Himalayas and amid the mystical heritage of the ancient land of Nepal,” he says. Highlights that were beyond memorable included a helicopter ride to Mount Everest, with a champagne breakfast overlooking the peak, a trip to the birthplace of Lord Buddha, and a gala dinner at a medieval heritage site. “I went to Kathmandu to share and exchange ideas with other leading entrepreneurs from around the globe,” says Scott. “This network of people with whom I enjoyed an “instamacy” (instant connection) will remain lifelong friends and business confidants. It was also a kind of personal journey because I took with me to Everest a photograph of my friend Brock Myrol, one of the four RCMP officers murdered in Mayerthorpe, Alta., in 2005. I knew that this was something he would have enjoyed doing.” His verdict: “The overall experience was life-changing, amazing and awesome!” Visit everestsummit2013.com for details.
