The Centre’s mission is to develop outstanding, socially responsible leaders through
education, research, outreach, and advocacy. This involves fostering leading-edge education
in the fields of responsible leadership and social responsibility; supporting research and
providing advice in the fields of business ethics, social responsibility, social innovation, social
entrepreneurship and sustainability; providing support for the non-profit community; and
being a global advocate for responsible leadership.
2012/2013 Milestones
Facilitated the completion of 4,000 hours of community
outreach by students working toward obtaining a Certificate
in Socially Responsible Leadership.
Expanded the Certificate program to include Master of
International Business (MIB) and Executive MBA students.
Enrolled 179 new students in the Certificate Program,
which is open to those in the Commerce, MIB, and
Executive, Accelerated and full-time MBA programs.
Hosted the eighth annual Responsible Leadership
Summit in October that attracted a record number
of students.
Hosted a Responsible Leadership Speakers Series, a
Social Innovation “boot camp,” two Discovery Learning
Workshops on Social Entrepreneurship, and a workshop
on Design Thinking and Social Innovation.
QBC continued to expand the breadth and depth of
client engagements by Commerce student consultants,
giving them the opportunity to conduct real-world market
research, feasibility studies and operations research,
and develop marketing strategies and communications
policies on behalf of a wide range of clients.
Student consultants worked directly with clients across
several industries, including a major veterinary clinic, a
leading Kingston commercial printing company, a well-
known frozen dessert retailer, a local municipality, a
real-estate developer, a hazardous waste management
company and a leading Canadian theatre company.

Queen’s Business Consulting
Queen’s Business Consulting (QBC) has operated for 40 years and is Canada’s top
undergraduate consulting program. This year-round venture is managed by senior
Commerce students under the guidance of Rob Woyzbun, the Centre’s Director. Students
provide a range of cost-effective consulting services to small and medium-sized businesses,
not-for-profit organizations, and other public enterprises.
