Winners in Voluntary Sector Reporting Awards announced

TORONTO, ON – Feb. 15, 2013 — The winners have been announced in Ontario’s award program for best charity annual reports ‐ the Voluntary Sector Reporting Awards (VSRAs). Winners in five categories were each awarded a $5,000 prize at the VSRA Luncheon in Toronto Feb. 15. 

Now in its fifth year, the VSRA is organized by the CA-Queen’s Centre for Governance in partnership with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, and is sponsored by PwC along with national media sponsor the National Post. “We were very pleased to receive more than 100 nominations from charities across Ontario,” says Steve Salterio, Director of the CA-Queen’s Centre for Governance. “This is a sign that Ontario’s charity sector is recognizing the importance of accountability and reporting.” 

The awards are open to registered charities that produce annual reports and are headquartered in Ontario. This year’s winners are:

Ontario only organizations:

1. Spinal Cord Injury Ontario — Total revenues over $10 million category

2. Niagara Community Foundation —Total revenues from over $1 million to $10 million category

3. Hospice King-Aurora — Total Revenues up to $1 million category
