Kingston, ON — Final rounds of the largest and longest running undergraduate business case competition were hosted by Queen’s School of Business Commerce students in Kingston this past weekend. The Inter-Collegiate Business Competition (ICBC) strives to unite, challenge and enrich the business leaders of tomorrow, and has been bringing together some of the brightest undergraduate business students from across Canada and internationally for over 30 years.

Qualification started with a preliminary Inter-University round competition in one of the eight disciplines: Accounting, Business Policy, Debating, Ethics, Finance, Labour Arbitration, Marketing, and Management Information Systems (MIS). This Inter-University Preliminary Round was extremely competitive with 138 case submissions from 28 participating schools, including four teams from Asia. The top six finalist teams were chosen to compete in Kingston for the final rounds, presenting their case analysis skills in front of a panel of industry expert judges for each of the eight categories.

The 2009 ICBC winners are:
• University of Calgary won the top spot in three out of eight disciplines: Ethics, Labour Arbitration and Marketing.
• Queen’s University was first in both Business Policy and Debating.
• The top spot in Accounting was University of Western Ontario; Finance was University of Alberta and McGill University in Management Information Systems.
