QSB Commerce alum named editor-in-chief of Globe and Mail

John Stackhouse, BCOMM’85, was named editor-in-chief of the Globe and Mail this week. Mr. Stackhouse has been with the paper since 1989 and has served as editor of the Report on Business since 2004.

The winner of five National Newspaper Awards, Mr. Stackhouse spent time as a foreign correspondent based in New Delhi, writing about issues across Southeast Asia and Africa. His 2001 book, Out of Poverty was based on his time in Asia, and he also wrote a cross-Canada hitchhiking diary, Timbit Nation. When he returned to Canada, Mr. Stackhouse worked as the Globe and Mail’s correspondent-at-large.

In recent years, Mr. Stackhouse has shared his knowledge and advice with fellow QSB alum, appearing as a guest speaker at QSB Toronto Business Club events.
