I came to Queen’s MBA Program because ...

After working in a multitude of healthcare industries for over 6 years, the next strategic move for me was to complete my MBA and develop an extensive background in business management. My decision to attend the Queen’s MBA was a relatively easy one, as it was based on three factors: community; opportunity; and academic rigour. In regards to community, the Queen’s MBA is a leader in its team-based approach to education. My team includes individuals from four different countries and seven different fields. We have taught each other, learned from each other, and challenged each other - it is collaboration at its absolute best. On top of this, we have a dedicated and experienced team coach who has provided us with advice and guidance that is directly applicable to working with high performance teams in the business world.

In terms of opportunity, Queen’s is persistent and adamant on the success of each and every one of its students. This means providing us with a myriad of networking events, academic challenges, seminars, and workshops that are based on a number of industries and fields. What this translates into is an experience that is not only tailored to the specific wants and needs of the student, but an experience that provides the tools and support to attain your unique goals. Currently, I am the Director of External Affairs on the Student Executive Council; the Director of Business Development for the Queen’s University Alternative Asset Fund; and I am completing a certification in Social Responsibility as a project manager for a local non-for-profit organization. The Queen’s MBA program consistently reminds me that the sky is the limit!

Lastly, I came to Queen’s because of the academic excellence it is renowned for. From award-winning researchers to partners at large firms, our professors are engaging, intelligent, and memorable. An MBA is not just about the conceptual or theoretical content you learn from your notes and lectures; it is about the impact that your professors have on you and your career. I have met some of the most moving and inspiring individuals and mentors during my very short two months so far - and I am more excited every day for what is in store. Please do not hesitate to reach out for any questions you may have!
