STUDENT AMBASSADORS

Bradley MacDonald

I came to Queen’s MBA Program because ...

The commodity crash provided me with the opportunity to reflect on my career and question whether I wanted to continue to specialize in Oil & Gas (in an investment banking or equity research role) or to transition into a new career. I wanted to focus my energy on helping businesses with their strategy challenges rather than continue in the narrow scope of Oil & Gas investment banking.

I decided to pursue an MBA with the ambition to transition my career into management consulting. I have a wife and young daughter so a one year program was the only option. I began researching Canadian MBA rankings and found Queen's near the top of the list. The team-based approach instantly connected with me. In my own experience, I have found the ability to work in teams to be a differentiating factor in colleagues. Also, the Consulting specialization spoke directly to my ambitions. I began the application process for a couple different schools but this is one area that Queen's really stood out. Most schools point you to a website and offer help if needed. Queen's MBA assigned an Applications Advisor who pro-actively helped every step of the way. The personal touch is there throughout the entire application process and continues into the program with the administration staff, professors and multiple coaches. I feel like I am getting more than a formal education with the team-based learning and personal growth initiatives. I truly feel that I made the right choice in the Queen's MBA.
