Manraj Nijjar

I’m excited to serve as Director of Student Affairs (Social) for the Full-time MBA Class of 2027. For me, this role is about creating the kind of environment where people genuinely want to participate, connect and build lasting relationships that form the foundation of a lifelong Smith network.

Before coming to Smith, I spent years working in high-pressure environments, from competitive athletics to hospital operating rooms, where teamwork isn’t optional. Those experiences taught me that the strongest teams are not just technically skilled. They trust each other, communicate openly and feel connected beyond the task at hand. That sense of cohesion does not happen by accident. It is built intentionally, and it starts with people feeling comfortable being themselves.

What drew me to this role was the opportunity to help shape that kind of environment within our class. Smith brings together an incredibly diverse group of people from different industries, countries, perspectives and goals. I want to create spaces where those differences become strengths, where classmates step outside their usual circles, form new friendships and build connections that last long after this year ends.

My vision is to foster an inclusive and balanced social experience that complements the intensity of the MBA. Whether through larger class events or smaller gatherings, my goal is to help our cohort feel connected, supported and genuinely proud of the community we’re building together.
