I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...
I chose the Smith MBA because it aligns with how I learn, grow and make decisions. Throughout my professional journey, most of my meaningful learning has come from people around me - managers, juniors and colleagues - rather than textbooks alone. This realization shaped my decision to pursue an MBA that emphasizes practical, peer-driven learning.
The Smith MBA stood out for its team-based learning model, which mirrors real-world business environments where decisions are made collaboratively, often under uncertainty and with diverse perspectives. I was looking for a program that would challenge my thinking, strengthen my judgment and allow me to learn by doing, reflecting and adapting. Smith’s approach offered exactly that.
My interactions with Smith alumni further reinforced my choice. Their openness, willingness to share experiences and genuine support reflected a strong, close-knit community. Similarly, my conversations with the admissions and executive teams were consistently professional, transparent and encouraging, giving me confidence that Smith truly values both personal and professional growth.
Looking back, I would advise myself to be more intentional about building authentic relationships rooted in trust and shared learning rather than transactions. That lesson directly shapes what I hope to gain from the MBA: an experience where I can experiment, fail, learn and grow alongside talented peers.
Ultimately, my goal is to develop the confidence and perspective to navigate ambiguity, make thoughtful decisions and lead with empathy. I want to carry forward the lessons from this journey into my long-term career, knowing that every challenge presents an opportunity to learn and improve.
