I chose the Smith MBA because I knew I needed an environment that would stretch me beyond my technical background. Coming from Information Technology, I was comfortable building systems, solving structured problems and working behind the scenes. My long-term goal, however, is to become an entrepreneur and build my own companies in the technology and digital spaces. I realized that technical skill alone would not be enough. I needed to learn how to lead, influence and build something bigger than just a product.

The team-based structure at Smith has challenged me in ways I did not expect. Working closely with classmates from completely different industries has forced me to step outside of my comfort zone. I am learning how to articulate my ideas clearly, defend my thinking, and adapt when my assumptions are challenged. As someone who wants to start and grow businesses, this has been incredibly valuable. Entrepreneurship is not a solo journey, and Smith constantly reinforces the importance of building strong relationships and trusting your team.

The support from faculty and staff has also made a real difference. They take the time to understand our goals and push us toward them. In addition, I personally know Smith alumni who have built impressive careers and remain connected to the school. Seeing their success makes the experience feel like a long-term relationship.

Smith is helping me move from being a technical contributor to becoming a confident future entrepreneur.
