I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

I chose the Smith MBA because when I was researching MBA programs across Canada, several aspects of Smith School of Business stood out to me. Their team-based learning model was compelling, as it closely mirrors how organizations work. Another key factor in my decision was the expansive alumni network, which spans a wide range of industries, offering meaningful connections to applicants who want to pivot into new sectors. The one-year MBA format was a critical driver that solidified my decision, as this gives me a head start in my career. Finally, the location played a meaningful role in my decision. I wanted to try something new and explore living in a smaller city, which is ultimately what led me to my decision.

If I could go back and give myself advice one year ago, I would tell myself to connect with the past alumni of the Smith MBA. Achieving an MBA takes a lot of commitment and resilience, so it’s helpful to speak to alumni to gauge what the program looks like and if it’s truly a good fit for you. I would also remind myself to lean into the Smith MBA program administration. The application process can be overwhelming at times, and they are always here to help me achieve my goals.

Coming from a healthcare background, my objective in pursuing the MBA was to pivot into healthcare consulting, where I can bridge clinical insight and business strategy. The guidance and support at Smith have given me the confidence and preparation to pursue this path.
