I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...
I wanted a program that would challenge me and support me – you only do an MBA once. Throughout my decision-making process, I spoke with students, alumni and faculty, and what consistently stood out was the strength of the Smith community. Smith’s team-based learning model and tight-knit culture appealed to me the most as I believe that meaningful learning happens through collaboration and shared experiences.
What ultimately solidified my decision was how approachable and genuine the people at Smith were. Every conversation felt honest and personal, and I could clearly see myself learning just as much from my classmates as from the courses. The balance between academic rigour and leadership development made Smith feel like a place where I could push myself outside of my comfort zone, while still being supported.
If I could go back and give myself advice one year ago, it would be to trust my instincts sooner and take the leap of faith, even when it felt out of scope. MBA applications can be intimidating, but growth often comes from saying yes before you feel fully ready.
My advice to applicants is to engage early with the admissions committee and ask thoughtful questions. Talk to current students about their experiences, attend events and reflect on how you want to grow during the MBA, not just after it.
Through the Smith MBA, I’m aiming to sharpen my strategic thinking, strengthen my leadership skills and build lifelong relationships. In the short term, my goal is to pursue a strategy consulting role to develop a broad business perspective and problem-solving toolkit, which I plan to apply long-term to create meaningful impact within my family business.
