I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...
of its collaborative team-based learning model, its emphasis on leadership development and its commitment to fostering meaningful impact. As someone who thrives in fast-paced, relationship-centred environments, I was drawn to Smith’s culture of collaboration and its strong alumni network. We are only a couple of weeks in, and I have truly valued the opportunity to work alongside diverse peers who are equally passionate about shared values.
For prospective applicants, my tip would be to stay true to yourself, your past accomplishments and your aspirations. Smith values diverse paths and perspectives, and as someone who came from a non-traditional background, I have quickly realized that the program is designed to support growth and exploration, with authenticity being the key to success.
If you are thinking about an MBA, my recommendation would be to apply! Having gone through the process later in the application cycle, I wasn’t sure whether the timing was right, but I’m so glad I took the leap. From the moment I was accepted, I was welcomed into the Smith community, connecting through social media groups and beginning to build relationships with classmates even before arriving in Kingston. The sense of camaraderie and support among my classmates has reinforced that this was the right decision.
Through my MBA experience, I aspire to build both the necessary skills and network to expand my impact within community-focused and purpose-driven organizations, whilst continuing to contribute and be involved in every opportunity that Smith presents.
