I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...
After more than ten years of professional work experience, pursuing an MBA felt like the right decision, both personally and professionally. I reached a point in my career where I wanted to challenge myself, broaden my skills and perspectives and intentionally prepare for senior leadership and executive roles in public healthcare, the not-for-profit sector or government. The team-based, supportive and tight-knit community within and among Smith alumni were drivers of my decision to pursue the Smith MBA.
The environment at Smith has proved itself to be powerful in opening new opportunities, strengthening strategic thinking and building team-based leadership skills, making my perceptions and understandings of Smith a reality.
If I could offer one piece of advice to prospective students, it would be to lean fully into the process by asking questions, staying curious and having confidence in who you are and what you bring to the learning space. Being focused and intentional about how you want to show up and shape and be shaped by the MBA experience will serve you well.
My biggest tip is simple, though not always easy: be yourself. There is no single type of MBA candidate. The strength of the cohort comes from its diversity of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. When you show up authentically, you actively contribute to a richer learning experience for everyone.
