I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...
its world-class standard for education, team-based approach to learning, and unique specialization options.
As an Emergency Medicine physician without a background in business skills, I knew I needed a program with robust education programming, to embed the fundamentals and then elevate my performance and expertise. Smith’s focus on didactic class-based instruction gave me confidence that I would have in-depth exposure to finance, analytics, marketing, leadership, communication, negotiation, and more classes, with time outside of class to refine these skills.
The team aspect of the program was invaluable to me, as my line of work is primarily team-based, so further building and refining my ability to succeed in varied teams was crucial to my selection. When collaborating through a varied assignment list, there is as much to learn from your colleagues, as there is to learn about yourself when working with them. Smith prioritizes high-performance team development, and prioritizing that skill set in myself is a major reason I chose to attend Smith.
Lastly, the Smith MBA comes with opportunities and flexibilities to pick specializations or dual-degree programs to enhance a key skill set. The electives offered in the second half of the degree, coupled with connections to other programs within Queen’s make this MBA an opportunity for truly specialized training that cannot be replicated elsewhere. With my interest in healthcare and medical innovation, the joint Master of Science Health Quality (MScHQ) presents an exciting opportunity to bridge my interests.
At Smith, being unique in your background is celebrated as a strength. With the skills I develop at Smith MBA, I know I will be ready to help shape the future of Canadian healthcare. This program is looking to make leaders who think critically in any field.
