I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

I wanted to move to the next level. Everyone reaches a point where they hit a plateau in their life and career; there’s a sharp rise in where you’re heading, and suddenly, it’s just flat and seems like there’s nowhere to go. I was at that stage in my career, and I knew I had to do an MBA to take the next step to ascend from that plateau. I applied to different schools in Canada, but Smith was always my priority mainly due to the following reasons –

  1. Coaching – The emphasis on coaching and the coach-to-student ratio is the best in the country. While other schools did have coaches, Smith involved the coach right from the application and interview process. The fact that coaching is an integral part of the course, along with frequent sessions to help shape our career, is crucial to me.
  2. Team-Based Learning – 99% of MBA schools educate their students to become great leaders but fail to educate them on how to be led by others and work as equals in high-functioning teams. The team-based learning approach will help me perform better as part of a team, inevitably improving my leadership skills.
  3. Reputation – When I decided to make a substantial financial and time commitment to pursue an MBA, I looked out only for the best schools in the world. Smith School of Business consistently ranks as one of the best MBA schools in the world year after year.
  4. Diversity – Though the cohort size of Smith MBA hovers usually around the 80 mark, which is somewhat smaller compared to many other top-ranked MBAs, Smith’s cohort is one of the most diverse in the world. That sort of exposure to different cultures helps broaden the horizons.

The reason why I chose to do my MBA at the Smith School of Business has been reinforced by the dedicated program staff and faculty who are always ready to support us and my brief but fantastic time here thus far.
