I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

Before embarking on your MBA journey, I believe it’s essential to understand what you want from your MBA and what factors you’d consider necessary (university prestige, location, program duration, career outcomes, etc.). If I could go back a year, one thing I would have done is be connected with the school - attending events (in-person or virtual), visiting the campus, and contacting the FTMBA department to clear any questions in my mind. It’s also important to consider what opportunities you would have to maximize your MBA, be it in sports, extra-curriculars, volunteering work, leadership positions, etc.

There are many reasons why I chose the Smith MBA. Along with the structural components of the program (i.e., team-based learning, one-year program, small batch size, etc.), it was also the personal touch that my application advisor added to our conversations. Their persistence and proactive communication made me feel like I was talking to someone who wanted the best for me. In addition, my interactions with Alumni, MBA cohort colleagues, and the program office staff indeed carried that warmth and sincerity that everyone associated with the MBA program has.

I aim to make the most of my MBA experience by achieving four key objectives:

  • Growing professionally by strengthening my business education and enriching my personal experience by enjoying my year.
  • Gaining leadership exposure from activities beyond my classroom from clubs, SEC, events and competitions
  • Making connections within the industry, Smith alumni, my cohort, and school
  • Contributing to Smith, Queen’s, and the Kingston communities through consistent engagement and work.
  • Hometown: Mumbai
  • Country of Origin: India
  • Prior Industry: Consulting
  • Career Focus: Consulting
