I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

It checked all the boxes!

After a handful of years working as an engineer in the Oil and Gas sector, I set out on my MBA journey. While I enjoyed the quantitative aspects of engineering, I found myself more interested in solving business problems rather than science problems. Realizing I had many gaps in my business acumen, I felt an MBA would be a perfect way to develop those skills and accelerate a career transition into management consulting or technology.

As I began the MBA application process, at the top of my checklist was the program's reputation, duration, and alumni network. As one of Canada’s best MBA programs, with a 12-month length, and unparalleled alumni network, Smith quickly checked those boxes. As I began to dive deeper into what else Smith offered, I discovered the team-based learning approach, the small class sizes, and the supportive faculty and coaches. All these factors I considered nearly essential to my MBA experience, which made for a no-brainer decision to come to Smith!

The best advice I can give to applicants is to turn over as many rocks as you can. Talk to faculty, current students, and alumni. Not only will you find that everyone is accommodating and supportive, but you will be able to ensure your goals and visions align with the program and that you will achieve the best return on your investment.
