I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

The focus on team-based learning. In the current dynamic business world, individuals do not drive businesses; high-performing teams do. Smith’s approach to learning through experiences and team-based learning paired with the systematic approach to coaching spoke to me the most. In addition, my interactions with administration teams at other schools that I applied to were no match for the experience at Smith.

My post-MBA goal is to be a part of the risk management space in the financial service industry. I believe that a Smith MBA will prepare me to gain the right skillset and build my network toward that career goal.

If I could give myself some advice, it would be to catch up on some sleep to brace for this exciting year ahead. Jokes aside, I will use this year to experiment with different avenues to have all options open for a post-MBA journey. That being said, it is useful to know the areas/sectors that you are targeting. As school commences, you may feel yourself getting pulled into different clubs/events, and it would be helpful to know your post-MBA goals so that you can focus your energy on what matters the most to you.

A tip to help with MBA applications would be: your application advisor is your best friend. Don’t shy away from asking questions, even if they may seem trivial to you. Make the most of their experience and insights.
