I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

I came to Smith because I want to invest in my future, and I believe the MBA program is the best way to do that. I hope to build a career by acquiring transferable skills and knowledge to fulfill my dream of starting my own data-driven consultancy focusing on social impact.

Many appealing aspects make the Smith program stand out. It is far from a traditional cookie-cutter MBA model. The program's flexibility enables me to choose many electives in core areas such as marketing and emerging fields such as digital transformation and analytics. The option for all business students to pursue a certificate in social impact is reflective of Smith’s commitment to producing conscientious leaders, a value I share. Lastly, the team-based approach is, in my opinion, the best way to learn how to make executive-level decisions in a cosmopolitan business world.

If I could go back and give myself advice, I would say that the most important thing when considering MBA schools is the alignment between your goals and values to the program’s core strengths. Choose a school where you can flourish. Statistics such as rankings, reputation, average annual salaries are secondary because each MBA student has a unique story and journey.

My number one tip for a potential student is to be authentic in your application. Nothing is more powerful than the stories you tell with conviction and raw emotion.
