I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

I came from a consulting background, and I knew the importance of working in teams. Smith MBA’s team-based approach was the first thing that drew me to it. Additionally, the huge alumni network is a cherry on top. When I applied, another pleasant surprise was how the process was personalized with an Application Advisor. During my conversations with the MBA program administration staff members, I learned about initiatives the program offers for post-MBA careers in consulting like Distinctly Case, for example. All of these factors combined to make Smith School of Business at Queen’s University my first choice MBA even after having a couple of other offers from other MBA programs.

One thing that I could have changed in my approach would be to talk to more alumni. I was a bit hesitant to approach them, but now that I know, they are very willing to help us out. My advice to the current applicants would be to talk to as many people as possible, be it the admissions and program teams, the current students or the alumni. Everyone in the Smith community is so helpful; they make you feel a part of the family even before you apply.

I want to make this MBA journey a memorable one. I want to learn the subjects and skills that I did not accrue earlier in life. Away from the classroom, I just tried ice skating! As they say at Smith, you are in a safe environment to try new things and improve.

My post-MBA goal is to secure a career in a strategy consulting firm. I know Smith has the resources and tools to help me achieve my goal. This why I feel the Smith MBA at Queen’s is the best place to be to realize my dreams.
