I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

I was introduced to the full-time MBA at Smith completely by chance at an MBA fair in Toronto. I was looking to kill some time between the presentations of two other top-ranked Canadian MBA programs and wandered into the Smith presentation out of curiosity. I was immediately hooked. After hearing the pitches of each school, what really stood out about Smith was the holistic nature of the program. Academics aside, I was really drawn by the Team, Career, Executive, and Wellness (Fit to Lead) coaching programs that Smith has integrated into the program. The support systems are immense and wide-reaching, and designed to build leaders from the ground-up.

One piece of advice that I would give myself one year ago, knowing what I know now, is to be confident in my own abilities. Coming from a Hospitality Management background, I came into the program with the concern that I would not be able to contribute to the same level as my peers – I could not have been more wrong. The team-based learning approach groups individuals together to leverage individual strengths and build upon areas of opportunity. If you are thinking of applying, my number one tip is to be genuine! Do not worry about saying what you may believe is the “right” thing. Know what it is that you can bring to the table and deliver that message with confidence.
