I came to the Full-time MBA at Smith School of Business because ...

of the team-based learning approach. After graduating from my undergraduate university, I started to consider my post-grad education options and Queen’s University was one of the options that came to my mind because of its stellar reputation. I researched master programs, and the Smith MBA program that is famous for its team-based approach caught my attention. After further research, I determined that this was where I wanted to do my MBA.

I wanted to obtain valuable experience by working closely with a small group of talented people from diverse backgrounds. The process is rewarding and unforgettable! Having decided the target school, I started to prepare for the GMAT exam and actively connected with the Smith MBA Admissions team. A tip I’d give to applicants is to avoid over-stressing about the GMAT exam. The Admissions Committee evaluates all criteria of the applicant, including the quality of work experience, undergrad academic performance, and your performance in the admissions interview. You could also diversify or highlight your extra-curricular activities to strengthen your profile.

I want to improve my communication skills. By the end of the program, I would like to be able to communicate effectively and solve conflicts strategically in a business context. I would also like to develop a global perspective and strengthen my cultural intelligence by collaborating with people from around the world. My post-MBA career is focused on financial consulting or corporate finance. I believe that the holistic resources from Smith School of Business at Queen’s will help me pivot to the new professional career area.
