CIO Brief: Developing Digital Strategy

Toronto Pearson Airport undergoes an enterprise-wide IT transformation

CIO Brief: Developing Digital Strategy

This discussion paper offers the key questions that IT leaders must ask when developing a digital strategy. It provides an overview of the four components of a digital strategy: digital experience design, digital operating model, digital platform assessment, and a business case and delivery plan. And it looks at how the Greater Toronto Airports Authority is devising a digital strategy for Toronto Pearson Airport.

The paper is based on the proceedings of a CIO Brief meeting focusing on how IT is being redefined. It is written by Heather A. Smith, a senior research associate, and James McKeen, emeritus professor, both of Smith School of Business. CIO Brief meetings bring together chief information officers from leading Canadian organizations to exchange best practices around information technology management strategy. Membership is by invitation only. The sessions are co-sponsored by Deloitte and Smith School of Business.
