Admissions

Eligibility Requirements and Supporting Documents

To be considered for admission, applicants typically have an A average in a discipline which is related to their field of interest and will meet the following criteria:

  1. Official transcripts from all universities attended.
  2. A B+ (77%) average grade for the last 2 years of study.
  3. Applicants must submit a GMAT or GRE score. No exceptions will be considered.
  4. If English is not your first language, one of two English tests.

    A IELTS minimum overall score of 7.5. TOEFL minimum overall score of 100 or higher

    Any applicant whose first language is not English, but who, within the 12 month period prior to the month of application, has studied for at least one complete year at a post-secondary institution where English is the official language of instruction may apply for a waiver. View the criteria and waiver instructions.

  5. Two academic referees familiar with your research and academic potential.
  6. Resume.
  7. Statement of research interests and career goals.

How to Apply

  1. Upload a copy of your official transcripts to your online application for all academic institutions attended. All applicants accepted into the program will be required to send hard copy official transcripts and degree certificates in the University sealed envelope.

  2. After submitting your application, you will be contacted by your Smith PhD Program Assistant to email a copy of your GRE or GMAT test. All accepted applicants will be required to release the official test to our department.
  3. To release a TOEFL result from the ETS Test Centre, use code 0250-1. For the IELTS test, please email your TRF number your graduate assistant.

  4. Electronic reference forms will be sent to your referees upon submission of your online application and application fee. Please alert your referees these forms will be sent to them. They will be required to complete their form and submit it back to our department.
  5. After your application is submitted, we will contact you to send your resume.

  6. Provide your Statement of Purpose with your online application or email it to your Graduate Assistant. This statement should include your career goals, research interests, and your related academic field of interest background.

Application Deadline

The application deadline for Fall 2022 admission is January 17, 2022.

All components must be submitted by this date.

Tuition and Fees

Total tuition and fees are approximately $6,980 CDN per year for both domestic and international PhD students. Please refer to the Graduate and Professional Programs Fee Schedule from Queen’s School of Graduate Studies.
