Ottawa Queen's Business Club invites you to join fellow alumni at a reception and presentation featuring Stephen S. Poloz, CITP, Senior Vice-President Financing, Export Development Canada (EDC) on ‘Where is the Real Recovery and What is EDC's Role?'

Stephen Poloz

Just back from a business tour in Asia, Stephen Poloz will talk about the different signs and stages of economic recovery around the globe and what it means for Canada.  He will also look at how EDC, Canada's Export Credit Agency, is building on its important role during the recession to help Canadians lead the recovery in North America.

Mr. Poloz leads EDC's Financing Group, which delivers a wide range of lending, structured finance and equity programs. He is also responsible for EDC Economics and the International Trade Intelligence Department. Prior to joining EDC in 1999, Mr. Poloz was with Montreal-based BCA Research for five years, and with the Bank of Canada in Ottawa for 14 years. He has been a visiting scholar at the IMF in Washington, and at the Economic Planning Agency in Tokyo. He served as president of the Ottawa Economics Association from 2002 to 2004.

Mr. Poloz holds a B.A. (Honours) in economics from Queen's University and a Ph.D and M.A. in economics from the University of Western Ontario. He is also a graduate of Columbia University's Senior Executive Program, and is a Certified International Trade Professional.
