Shyra Barberstock

As President and Chief Executive Officer of Okwaho International Inc., Shyra plays a pivotal role as ambassador and external relations specialist. An accomplished Indigenous innovator and leader, Shyra’s entrepreneurial spirit and her passion to make a positive difference for Indigenous peoples in Canada, was the driving force behind the creation of the 2014 launch of the Okwaho Network – the first social network for Indigenous peoples on a global scale.

An academic at heart, Shyra is currently pursuing her Master’s in Geography and Planning at Queen’s University with a research focus on Reconciliation through Indigenous Social Innovation. With a wealth of knowledge in Indigenous Economic Development, best practice models, capacity development, entrepreneurship, and Social Innovation, Shyra plays an integral role in thought leadership, research and consulting for Okwaho International Inc.
