Dianne Zimmerman

Dianne is Manager Strategic Relations for Suncor Energy's renewable energy group. In this role, Dianne works with governments, regulators and other key stakeholders to track new wind policy and regulations and supports the development of Suncor's future wind farms across Canada. Dianne has worked at Suncor since 2001 and has supported a variety of other sustainability issues including climate change, water, land-use and boreal habitat protection.

Prior to moving west, Dianne was principal of DNH Environmental Consulting, program director of the Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance, consultant with the Summerhill Group and researcher for Pollution Probe. Dianne’s experience with environmental organizations, governments and industry on air quality, clean energy policy and climate change issues brings practical experience to Suncor’s triple-bottom line approach to business decision-making.

Dianne is co-founder and past chair of Young Environmental Professionals, founding member of CleanAir Canada Inc., and past co-chair of Alberta EcoTrust. Dianne sits on regional and national policy committees including the Canadian Wind Energy Association and the Alberta Clean Energy Alliance – an expert group designed to develop a clean energy policy framework that would be supported in Alberta’s unique electricity market.

Dianne completed her Masters of Environmental Studies in 2002 from York University with a focus in renewable energy policy and has studied in England and Colorado. She graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce and Environmental Studies from the University of Toronto and is a LEED® Canada Accredited Professional.
