Student Volunteer Outreach Experience

The Centre recently reached out to Jennifer Lo, a Commerce student at Smith School of Business who is working towards her Certificate in Social Impact. Jennifer spent a portion of this past summer volunteering in Singapore with a variety of organizations, with these hours counting toward the volunteer requirement for the Certificate program. Jennifer provides below an insight into her volunteer outreach experience and what impact her involvement in the Certificate program has on her future.

Brown Bag Lunch Highlights

After learning about how much of a problem bullying among youth was in Canada and finding out that many leaders and educators were lacking the tools to turn the situation around, Dr. Craig and her colleagues launched PREVNet in 2006. Over the years, the organization has built collaborative partnerships with governments, NGOs, and businesses to design evidence-backed initiatives and campaigns that can truly work towards diminishing the negative effects that bullying and victimization have on society.

João Victor Araujo, a recent graduate of the Masters in International Business program (MIB) and new Certificate in Social Impact alumni is not at all disappointed with his decision to enroll into the Certificate in Social Impact program; in fact, João’s intention in joining the program was to enrich his experience at Smith and he did just that.
