Extensive research has examined the dynamics and outcomes of organizational identity perceptions, but we know much less about how identity is formed and maintained at higher levels of analysis, such as industries or sectors. However, anecdotal evidence and a few studies suggest that organizational actors may develop a strong consensus around the central, enduring, and distinctive characteristics or values that define their industry, with potentially both positive and negative consequences for the capacity of the industry to adapt to disruptive change. The goal of this conversation will be to present some initial theoretical and empirical explorations to investigate the dynamics and outcomes of industry identity, with special attention being paid to the potential usefulness of the construct to help us understand how industries engage with social change.
Join the Centre and Jean-Baptiste Litrico as he leads us in a conversation about Industry Identity and Social Change.
Let’s see where the conversation takes us!
