Brown Bag Lunch with Jacob Brower (Thursday December 3rd)

Where the Eyes Go, The Body Follows:  Understanding the Impact of Strategic Orientation on Corporate Social Performance

Featuring:  Jacob Brower, Assistant Professor, Smith School of Business

Over the past decade corporate social performance (CSP) has played an increasingly important role in the strategic planning of firms, however there is a great deal of variation in CSP levels across firms and many firms continue to struggle with how to integrate CSP in ways that align with their overall strategy.

Empirical academic research on the topic of the drivers of CSP is sparse, particularly from the perspective of the way that a firm’s overall strategic orientation impacts firm CSP.  This project seeks to address two questions with respect to firm CSP:

(1) Do some strategic orientations lead to greater firm adoption of CSP?; and if so,

(2) How do different strategic orientations affect firm levels of CSP differentially?

Let’s see where the conversation takes us!
