“Wintergreen Studios: Where Education, Culture and the Environment Intersect”
Featuring: Dr. Rena Upitis, Professor of Arts Education, Queen's University
Wintergreen supports local, renewable, and community-based projects in the areas of education, culture, and the environment. Members from the community, along with Wintergreen volunteers and staff, contribute to projects in all of these areas. For example, Wintergreen has developed educational resources that focus on energy, local food, and traditional building practices and other forms of sustainable education. Some of these resources, along with related research, will be described in the session. A recent project that we have undertaken in partnership with the School of Environmental Studies is to create a biodiversity plot at Wintergreen, and this project will be described as an exemplar of how projects are generated and supported at Wintergreen.
